Pool water turns green when chlorine is added

Add HTH® Metal Remover - follow pack instructions. Shock treat in the early evening with 3 x normal dosage of HTH® Classic chlorine or 1 sachet of HTH® Shock it - follow pack instructions.  

Pool water is green but not slimy

Add HTH® Metal Remover - follow pack instructions. Shock treat in the early evening with 3 x normal dosage of HTH® Classic chlorine or 1 sachet of HTH® Shock it - follow pack instructions.  

Pool walls feel slimy

Shock treat in the early evening with 3 x normal dosage of HTH® Classic chlorine or 1 sachet of HTH® Shock It - follow pack instructions.

Floating algae in pool water

Tried a number of products, pool water still remains green

Remove stabilised product from pool water. Dilute the stabiliser by draining some of the water and topping up with fresh water. The simplest and most economical way is to drain a portion of the pool water by setting your pool filter onto the "waste" position.

High chlorine readings

Cannot see the floor of the pool

Ensure that the filter runs for 12 hours per day in summer and 8 hours per day in winter. Add HTH® Sparkle lt to your pool - follow pack instructions. Alternatively, HTH® Cloudy to Clear can be used in cases where the pH level is above 7.6.

Slimy black patches on walls and floor of pool

Add HTH® All-ln-1 Algaecide to your pool water - follow pack instructions.

Slimy green patches on walls and floor of pool

Add HTH® Green Algaecide to your pool water - follow pack instructions.

Floating green algae in pool water

Add HTH® Green Algaecide to your pool water - follow pack instructions.

Yellowish/brown stains on pool lining that are not slimy & hard to remove

There is no guaranteed solution to removing stains - contact the HTH® Institute for a treatment. To prevent further staining, maintain levels as follows: pH between 7.2 - 7.6 TA between 80 - 120ppm. Use HTH® Metal Remover when topping up with borehole water. Regularly remove debris from lining that could cause organic stains.  

Bluish/black stains on pool lining that are not slimy & hard to remove

Only use products that don't contain copper. Regularly remove debris from lining that could cause organic stains.
